UniVision 9.0.2 is supported on the following platforms

AIX UNIX 5.2 with the latest patches.

REDHAT Linux Advanced Server 4.0 with the latest patches.

Sco Unixware 7.1.3 with maintenance update patch level 2.

Sco Unixware 7.1.4 with latest maintenance.


Upgrading to UniVision 9.0.2 FROM A PREVIOUS VERSION

UniVision 8.0.4 to 9.0.1

STEP 1
Logto the SYSPROG check for excluded files and accounts

STEP 2
Preform 2 fully verified FILE-SAVE before commencing the upgrade

STEP 3
Upgrade univision

UniVision upto and including 8.0.3

NOTE If upgrading from UniVision prior to version 6.0.x please do not start this upgrade unless all DATA BASIC source code is available on the users site see STEP 5.A

STEP 1
Logto the SYSPROG check for excluded files and accounts and commence a full system file-save and verify.

STEP 2
Logto SYSPROG
Run BUILD-TR-INDEX.
This will create a file TR-INDEX in SYSPROG account
LIST TR-INDEX will display similer to the following example:

ACCOUNT         FILE
SYSPROG        indices | test, test
MER               indices | customer, customer

please make a note of all account names and files names with index.

STEP 3
Login to each account and delete all indexes for all indexed files,
i.e. DELETE-INDEX customer *.
This will delete all indexes from customer files.
Repeat this in all accounts with indexes.

STEP 4
Preform 2 fully verified FILE-SAVE

STEP 5
Remove UniVision
Install UniVision 8.0.17
Reload data from save tapes

STEP 5.A
If upgrading from UniVision release prior to 6.0.X you must now recompile all DATA BASIC programs

STEP 6
Now recreate all the indexing within univision 8.x.x

FAILURE TO IMPLEMENT THIS PROCEDURE WILL RESULT IN THE INABILITY TO RE-CREATE YOUR INDEX'S.

Upgrading UniVision COMMS/UNIFAX Account

1) The UVUPGRADE.COMMS program is incorporated in all releases of UniVision. This program allows you to recover data from previous versions of UniComms and UniFax software. The program offers two modes of upgrade, pre-release 04.09.04. The two methods of upgrade are as follows:

NOTE : THE VIAUV ACCOUNT FOR SITES THAT WISH TO CONTINUE USING THE CURRENT VERSION OF VIADUCT/WINLINK SHOULD BACKUP AND RECOVER VIAUV

2) Pre-Release 04.09.04

i) ACCOUNT-SAVE COMMS and/or UNIFAX
ii) DELETE-ACCOUNT COMMS and/or UNIFAX
iii) Now ACCOUNT-RESTORE (from the tape produced in step i) COMMS as RECOVER.COMMS UNIFAX as RECOVER.UNIFAX

Post-Release 04.09.04

i) ACCOUNT-SAVE COMMS
ii) DELETE-ACCOUNT COMMS
iii) Now ACCOUNT-RESTORE COMMS as RECOVER.COMMS

3) Now upgrade your UniVision software from your UniVision Installation Manual, When you have successfully upgrade/installed. Logon to the SYSPROG account.

4) On completion of the UniVision upgrade/installation perform the following steps at UCL in the SYSPROG account to recover user data for UniComms and UniFax:

Step i) CATALOG UVPROGS UVUPGRADE.COMMS <CR>
Step ii) UVUPGRADE.COMMS <CR>

The program will present the following question:

Are you upgrading from a pre 04.09.04 release of UniVision (Y/N/E)?

Enter Y <CR> to action a pre-release 04.09.04 upgrade.
Enter N <CR> to action a post-release 04.09.04 upgrade.
Enter E <CR> to exit the program.

The UVUPGRADE.COMMS program will move your data into the new COMMS account.

WARNING
Please remember to recover any of your own files from the RECOVER.COMMS & RECOVER.UNIFAX accounts before deleting them.

Once the upgrade is complete delete the RECOVER.COMMS & RECOVER.UNIFAX accounts.

5) Within the SYSPROG ACCOUNT run the UPGRADE procedure for each of your accounts. This will give them access to the COMMS utilities.
